Our client based in Manchester offers sustainable logistics and supply chain solutions worldwide. Due to experiencing a substantial period of growth and expanding their business across the UK, they are currently looking for an experienced Freight Business Development Manager to work with mainly Air Freight products, but also Ocean and Rail Freight products as well when required.
As a Business Development Manager within Freight, you will have extensive knowledge of Air, Ocean and Rail freight movements, and also customs documentation and procedures.
The successful Freight Business Development Manager will be offered a salary of £35-40k depending on experience, plus uncapped commission, car or car allowance.
Duties of the Freight Business Development Manager:
Win business from new customers in line with targets
Generate an increase in business from existing customers in your portfolio
Identify new target customers within defined parameters
Research all clients fully prior to visiting, to ensure credit limits are viable, and there is a realistic chance of success
Communication with clients in order to qualify prospects and promote the Company
Visit customers, to achieve number of visits as per KPI’s and follow up effectively
Complete comprehensive visit reports punctually shortly after the visit
Ensure customer satisfaction whilst complying with Company standards and procedures
Represent the Company to a high standard
Receive enquiries, quotations, RFI/RFQ and engage with internal/external stakeholders as required
Establishing relationships with customers, providing active and proactive information to the client as needed
Other requirements:
Strong selling skills (negotiation, persuasion)
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
Problem-solving and dispute resolution skills
Good presentation skills
Good time-management with the ability to organise
Good numeracy skills
Computer literate – in particular to be familiar with CargoWise, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, etc.
Able to manage deadlines and sometimes difficult situations
Achieve individual KPI’s and targets, as defined
