Established in 2013, NHS Property Services is a property owner, service provider and advisor, helping to shape the estate of the NHS for the future. We have one goal: to ensure the NHS makes the right property choices that enable excellent patient care.

Our portfolio is one of the largest in the UK, comprising more than 3,000 properties with 7,000 tenants across England. At a total value of more than £3bn, this represents about 10% of the total NHS estate.

Our properties range from listed buildings through to award-winning, state-of-the-art integrated health campuses.

The role of Energy Manager is a remote role covering the whole of the North of England and will report into the Energy & Environment Programme Manager. This role is critical to the transformation of NHS Property Services to a net-zero Carbon business by 2040. With many properties spread across England the Energy Manager will work alongside another split in North/South geography. The Energy Manager to identify projects, develop business cases and implement those that are suitable, as well as continuing the successful engagement programme to drive energy efficiency and cost savings across the business.

Key Responsibilities

The Energy and Environment team is a relatively new team within NHSPS that seeks to reduce the environmental and financial impact our portfolio has on the NHS.

Having made a significant impact on carbon and cost savings so far over the last 2 years we are now looking for an experience and driven Energy Manager to continue to drive these savings across the North & South Regions.

The role will require the successful candidate to be self-driven and proactive and use their technical knowledge to engage with the Regional Facilities, Construction, Property and Asset Management teams and senior leadership groups in the Regions to drive net-zero carbon and water/utilities reduction opportunities. This interaction will be key in developing the relationships necessary to identify suitable projects to develop into business cases to receive funding deliver cost and carbon savings across our estate.

The Energy Manager will also lead on the Energy Engagement programme in the North or South Regions to drive no cost/low-cost opportunities and colleague/tenant engagement. This will be a continuation of the existing successful programme run by an external 3rd party provider, which is now moving in-house
