Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet extremely rewarding, places for healthcare professionals to work. HMP Stocken is a local category C men’s prison with an operational capacity of approx. 1050 based in the beautiful county of Rutland. By car it is approximately 20 minutes from Grantham, 30 minutes from Peterborough and Corby and less than an hour from Leicester and Nottingham. What are we looking for?
As a primary care ANP with an independent prescribing qualification you will be an integral member of our multi-disciplinary team, which includes two GPs. You will be passionate about offering high quality evidence-based care, practicing within your sphere of competence, and agreed acceptable limits of practice, in accordance with company goals and strategies, prison service policies and procedures and in line with the NMC Code. You will be accountable for your own practice including the independent assessment, diagnosis (including ordering and interpreting investigations), care planning, treatment and discharge or referral of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions, both minor and more complex. You will lead on co-ordinating and make the key contribution to the delivery of high-quality long-term condition management in line with NICE guidance, National Service Frameworks and the achievement of targets within the primary care Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF). Be open to new ways of working flexibly to help in delivering the teams response in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. Leading by example you will share your experience and knowledge with other team members through formal and informal teaching opportunities and participating in our clinical supervision model.
This is ideally a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week across five days, although consideration may be given for 30 hours per week over four days, one of which must be a Monday. The hours for this post are likely to be 08:30 – 16:30 Monday to Friday, although exact timings are negotiable.
